Monday January 23rd at Aurora

Here are a few shots from our first Monday with the students. Usually Mondays are crazy, because the kids have been all weekend in their shanty town homes, and you never know what they've been exposed to or confronted with. It's hard to phase back in to school life. We're told that the kids are awesome by Thursday, and then on Friday they have to go home again. It's hard for them.

This little boy, Kuhle, is in April and Michael's Grade R class

Kyle, Jess, and Lungelo

Jess carrying our empty water jug, African style, to Aurora to be filled

April was greeted this morning with squeals and hugs from her Grade R learners

  1. Hi Cindy,
I am loving the pictures and updates!
When I was praying for you today, my own 6th grade Environmental Science class came to mind. (Kingdom, phylum, class, order, family, genus, species, right?)--They will never forget you, Cindy.

  2. Hi Jess,

Well done on carrying the "empty" water bottle, now do it when it is full, that will make you true African girl and will be well repected.
